Couples Therapy
In couples therapy, I utilize an Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) frame that is informed by my relational psychodynamic and interpersonal sensitivities. Rather than pathologizing or placing blame, I help my clients see their challenging relational dynamics as “stuck points” that are shaped by their previous relational experiences, emotions, and unmet needs. By improving my clients’ self-awareness and abilities to express their emotions and needs more clearly, I help them find sustainable relief from their stuck points while also deepening their emotional intimacy and sense of connection. Presenting issues I see frequently in couples therapy include challenges with:
Communication and/or navigating conflict
Emotional intimacy/emotional distance
Parenting and family dynamics
Grief and loss
Trust and/or infidelity
Personality difficulties
