Individual Therapy
My training in a variety of clinical settings has prepared me to work well with adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and who present with a range of severity in terms of their symptoms. By providing access to a restorative relationship characterized by authenticity, empathy, and acceptance, I help my clients let go of pain from the past so that they can live more freely in the present and experience more purpose and meaning in their lives. Presenting concerns I see often in my practice include:
Anxiety and depression
Relational/interpersonal difficulties
Trauma
Personality concerns/Identity work
Grief and loss
Support for chronic health/medical conditions
Religious and/or spiritual concerns
I utilize a depth-oriented and relational approach to individual therapy that aims to address your mental health struggles by deepening your understanding and connection with who you are and why you think and behave in the way you do. By improving your awareness of how your current functioning is informed by patterns from your past, I help you find the empowerment you need to begin to make new choices in the present. To inform my approach, I draw from:
Relational psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, interpersonal, and depth-oriented theories
Neuroscience and scientific research
Trauma-informed and somatic therapies
In addition to my clinical background, I have formal training in theology and philosophy, which has helped me develop my specialization in working with clients who hope to include their faith, spirituality, and/or religious beliefs into therapy. I am open to working with clients from all faith traditions. I also have extensive experience working with Christian clients, including pastors and others working in ministry.
